A History of Firsts

Since our inception, PHT has strived to advance science in new and innovative ways through cutting-edge technology. This quest for improving clinical research began in 1994, when Stephen Raymond, Ph.D., founded PHT and invented the modern ePRO industry with the first trial to use handheld and web technologies, in 1995. Today, PHT is the clear market leader and continues to develop and expand the uses and capabilities of ePRO. This allows scientific researchers to ask new questions and get better firsthand knowledge from the subjects in their trials.

Wirelessly Integrated Measurement Devices

Objective physiological data collected by measurement devices wirelessly integrated with subjective eDiaries are opening new avenues for clinical research. The PHT eSense PiKo, developed collaboratively with nSpire Health, was the first such solution used in a trial. Today, integrated PEF meters are quickly becoming the gold standard in asthma research.

ISO Certification

PHT was the first - and remains the only - handheld eDiary provider to achieve and maintain ISO 9001:2000 registration of its quality management system. This provides peace of mind and numerous benefits for our valued clients around the world.

ePRO Trials in Japan and China

PHT maintains significant ePRO in-roads into Japan and China, and was the first ePRO provider to implement a trial in either country. Japan is the world's third-largest pharmaceutical market, and its citizens are avid consumers of technology, but ePRO was not used by study sponsors there until PHT partnered with a leading provider to resell the LogPad, deliver localized help desk support, and provide project management services. ePRO is becoming more widely accepted in Japan by sponsors, investigators and subjects due in large part to PHT's efforts to educate this market on its proven benefits and reliability over paper.

Indic Languages on an eDiary

While ePRO trials have been performed in India, they were previously done in English or in a single dialect. PHT is the only provider to offer seven common Indic languages - including Hindi, Urdu and Marathi - on an eDiary. Indic fonts are difficult to implement as the fonts do not exist for most handheld systems. PHT, however, invested in creating a customized solution for a client with a trial in India, and now these validated languages are available for all sponsors to use when collecting data from subjects in their native languages.

What the Future Holds

PHT has not stopped innovating - the future of ePRO is bright and our product capabilities are always expanding. Let us know if you have a specific and unique technology requirement in mind for your trial, are curious if a solution already exists, or want to learn about what other innovative systems sponsors have implemented.
